DESCRIPTION

Operation Homecoming was originally a publication sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts that shared the voices of Iraq, Afghanistan and home front troops and families through nearly 100 personal letters, private journals, poems, stories and memoirs. Dozens of workshops sponsored by the NEA and led by some of America’s best poets and writers gave an outlet to those that have served, sacrificed and seen both hope and tragedy. Come hear the stories from Operation Homecoming and take part in a dialogue that will go beyond the headlines and politics, and focus on individual experiences. We will invite local service men and women, and their families to participate with new writings and in conversation. Join us for an opportunity to listen, heal and honor the collective experience of Operation Homecoming.

“These men and women offer unique and important voices that enlarge our understanding of the American experience.”
~ Dana Gioia, Chairman, National Endowment for the Arts
