DESCRIPTION
How would you like to hang out with two best guy friends and eat junk food in their living room? What if these two guys were Matt Damon and Ben Affleck before they got famous? What if one of the best scripts ever fell from the sky into the living room while you were there, and you all got to freak out and decide what to do about it?
Eclectic Theater Company gives you the chance to do just that in the upcoming production of "Matt & Ben" by Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers. These two ladies decided to tell the world what really happened in the writing process of "Good Will Hunting", while also showing the world what the two best friends were like before fame: When Ben was still doing impressions of The Penguin on the baseball field and Matt was trying to impress the ladies with his Simon and Garfunkel renditions.
And the best part? Both of the guys are played by girls! ETC delivers this wonderfully skewed and skewering play with flair as Traci Biegenwald plays Ben Affleck, Julia Rauch plays Matt Damon, and L. Nicol Cabe directs. Come see how these boys crafted their fates as the golden boys of our era while telling a timeless story of comedy and friendship, outlasting even the silliest of pop culture references.
After all, Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel have gotten to spend some quality time with Matt and Ben recently. Why shouldnt you? The show opens March 21 and runs through Saturday, April 12. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2. Pay-what-you-can Preview on Thursday, March 20 at 7:30pm.
