DESCRIPTION
Living Dead is Blazing Kung fu action(tm)! The Living Dead! The immortal Bard! All stuffed into a blender and set to puree! Characters roam a post apocalyptic Denmark in the face of an impending zombie invasion! Only Lady Macbeth, Juliet and a really pissed off Ophelia have a chance at staving off this threat but will they do or die (and maybe die again for good measure)? See the West Coast premiere of this hit of the 2007 National Asian American Theatre Festival by rising star Qui Nguyen! And original music by Dan Deming
Here's what they said about the original production!
"LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK is inspired and offbeat theatre. It is entertaining and raucous, occasionally crass, surprisingly moving in places, and entirely original."
– Michael Criscuolo, NYTHEATRE.COM
“Fast paced, fresh, full of action, clever lines and wrapped in classic youthful fearlessness.”
– Lee Bines, RETROVISIONMEDIA.COM
“Highly entertaining . . . a full-out assault on Shakespeare in the form of B-movie madness and some seriously kick-ass stage combat. .”
– Sean Michael O'Donnell, OFFOFFONLINE
Since 1997, the Pork Filled Players have titillated audiences of every race, creed and gender across the Northwest. Wielding its wit like a scalpel (or dull meat cleaver, as the case may be), the Players field both Seattle’s oldest sketch comedy group and the region’s longest running Asian American theatre group.
Major festival appearances include:
• SketchFest Seattle, the nation’s first non-profit sketch comedy festival;
• SketchOff@%#? (Vancouver, BC), the first Asian North American sketch comedy festival);
• Bumbershoot, Seattle’s annual arts extravaganza, and
• the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival.
Equally adept at sketch comedy and traditional theatre, the Players employ the fun-house mirror of humor to whack away at notions of race, politics and social norms in 21st CenturyAmerica. The Players are fully armed in their mission to achieve maximum tongue-in-cheekiness, biting cultural and political satire and hilarious racial disharmony with their brand of Amazing Kung-Fu Griptm zaniness.
