The time: 1927. The place: Nice, France. Henri Matisse, world renowned artist, creates a painting of an oriental slave girl, or “odalisque.”
The time: 1940. The place: Paris, France. The Nazis confiscate the “odalisque” from the Roths – a French, Jewish family.
The time: present. The place: USA. Deborah Roth searches the world’s art galleries and museums for her family’s lost treasure.
