DESCRIPTION
In this historic presidential election year, Intiman concludes its five-year American Cycle with a monumental tale of politics, power and history. John Procaccino stars as Willie Stark in Robert Penn Warren’s classic story of the flamboyant politician (a fictionalized portrait of Huey P. Long, the radical populist from Louisiana) and his right-hand man, reporter-turned-political insider Jack Burden (Leo Marks). This epic adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, which will feature music by Randy Newman, is performed by an ensemble of 18 actors, many of whom will double as onstage musicians.
American Cycle programs include Front Porch Theater, a county-wide series of dramatic readings and conversations; an original performance created by Rough Eagles students from Cleveland and Roosevelt High Schools; humanities forums, including a talk by John Burt, Literary Executor for Robert Penn Warren; and special events and free community programs.
