DESCRIPTION

Pretty Girls, is a fast-paced, provocative satire, set in the twisted middle world between magazines and modern life. The play is inspired by The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf, and includes multi-media elements that tell the story of three young women and their inevitable encounter with the all-powerful fashion cult at the Church of Beauty:where commandments are issued in a monthly magazine and communion is taken with Miss Universe acting as priest. We enter the Church at a crucial time, it is the Anniversary Exhibition and the aging Head Mistress stands in grave peril of losing her job. To save her position of power she must recruit and makeover three young women; a beauty Atheist, a beauty hypocrite, and a lost sheep who has strayed from the path of beauty.
