DESCRIPTION
Obama on My Mind takes a humorous look at the whirlwind and wonderful world behind the scenes of an Obama campaign office in small town America. A passionate group of larger than life oddball characters start to panic when Sarah Palin enters the race and Obama falls 20 points in the polls. Pop, gospel, jazz, and soft rock come together in a politically inspired comedic romp featuring a motley crew of loyal, obsessive and downright peculiar personalities, striving to get their candidate into the White House. Conceived by writer/composer Teddy Hayes, a Black American living abroad, this musical premiered in London, England in March 2009. Some might argue that only an ex-patriot could have created a show like this. The unique perspective and wicked humor is key to the shows success. British audiences ate it up and Obama on My Mind received outstanding reviews. This is a classic American musical in the style of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Damned Yankees and The Music Man, with lots of energetic dancing, catchy songs and great fun. And at a time like this, in a recession like this, Americans need to see it; shared humor brings us together.

The writer, Teddy Hayes, should have had this lame effort vetoed, instead of embraced, by director Jacqueline Moscou. (read article)

A spirited if lighthearted way of recalling just how outsize was the optimism of many Obama supporters. (read article)

Even though the show could use a bit of work in the first half, it\'s a good effort, and doesn\'t stop it from being a good show to watch. (read article)

It’s rather like a bland, 1970s television sitcom, in which no one can get too mad at anyone since they will have to do it all again next week. (read article)
