DESCRIPTION

BURN, directed by YATC co-founder Chelsea Taylor and written by Deborah Gearing, focuses on the social stigma of abnormality, and how young people must question their own actions towards one another. Centering around teenage outcast Birdman (Sam Tilles) and the girl he desperately loves (Sydney Tucker), the story is an ensemble piece which explores the pitfalls of adolescence. When something unexpected happens to Birdman, his community must come to terms with the role they played in his suffering. The cast also includes Sylvie Baldwin, Jeffrey Hayes, Kelsey Hopper, Leigh Huggins, Emma Kelley, Cory Lennon, Thomas Moore, Rebecca Mostow, Jesse Roth, and Bradley Sherman. The stage manager and technical director is Maddie Downes.

Performances will take place Thursday through Sunday, July 30 – August 9, 8pm at Live Girls! Theatre at 2220 NW Market St. Seattle, WA 98107. Tickets are $12 for adult and $10 for students, with the $5 price option available for Teen Tix members. Tickets may be purchased at the box office one hour prior to curtain or in advance on brownpapertickets.com. Please email youngamericanstheatre@gmail.com with any questions or concerns. Please do not contact Live Girls! Theatre.

The Young Americans’ Theatre Company was founded in March 2008, to provide opportunities for young artists to be involved with theatre outside the influence of educational and other traditional environments. The company is entirely managed by and made up of young adults. Its goal is to create theatre that will speak to, inspire, and authentically provoke discussion within the young Seattle community. It was created by six young adult actors, each of whom has extensive experience in theatre, both as students and professional performers.

While many of the company are competent actors, the cohesion of the group is clearly also improving in every theatrical \"company\" type of activity.
