MISSION STATEMENT
|
|
On the Boards introduces Northwest audiences to international innovators in contemporary dance, theater and music while developing and presenting new work by promising performing artists in the region. |

MORE ABOUT THEATRE
|
On the Boards was founded in 1978 by several Seattle artists who wanted to create a venue for experimentation in contemporary performance. Founding artistic director, Robert McGinley, began to bring in artists from outside the NW, hosting several pioneers in some of their earliest groundbreaking performances: Spalding Gray, Laurie Anderson, Meredith Monk, Mabou Mines, LaLaLa Human Steps, Bill T. Jones & Arnie Zane.
On the Boards has played a pivitol role in the careers of many local performers and has introduced local audiences to innovators from more than a dozen countries. On the Boards worked nationally with colleague organizations to establish contemporary performance and was a founding member of The National Performance Network. |
