MISSION STATEMENT
|

Backwards Company strives to rigorously combat the rumor that theatre is dying. As a unified and cohesive ensemble of artists, we are able to defy and reinterpret today’s theatre mantras while also inventing new techniques of our own. In these efforts we hope to present meaningful, driven work of immediate relevance as proof that theatre is not in fact dying, but evolving into a new and more communal art form. |

MORE ABOUT THEATRE

Backwards Company began as the brain child of Caleb Penn in 2005. During his freshman year at Cornish College, he recruited over a dozen people to help him create his first show, Dreams, Oh Dreams. This 40 minutes long piece, centered around battling oppression, was the perfect show to represent Backwards Company’s point of view. Three years later, the company stands strong on these values and is launching its first full season. |
