DESCRIPTION

Correo Aereo (Air Mail) is an award winning World Music Duo performing traditional and original music of Latin America; primarily of Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina. Together, Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin combine an array of string and percussive instruments with silken vocal harmonies. Abel plays harp, guitar, cuatro, quinta huapanguera and vocals. Madeleine plays violin, maracas, bombo, jarana and vocals. Their music is polyrhythmic and melodic; fiery, haunting, joyful. In addition to their three recordings: Provinces, Lo Que Me Dijo El Viento and Para Cantarle Al Rio, Correo Aereo’s music is featured in films and soundtracks of Universal Picture’s The Life of David Gale and Before The Music Dies.

The award-winning Carmona Flamenco specializes in contemporary and traditional flamenco music, dance and song. Marcos Carmona, one of the premiere flamenco guitarists in the US, with training from Gypsy artists in Sevilla and Madrid. He is also the Executive Director of Flamenco Arts Northwest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of the Flamenco arts in the Pacific Northwest. Rubina Carmona began studying flamenco dance in San Francisco. She went to Spain in 1965, where she studied with Madrid's teaching team, Mercedes and Albano Leon. Later, she was referred by them to the cantaor Bernardo de los Lobitos and spent an extended period working with him.The son of Marcos and Rubina, David Carmona is one of flamenco’s hottest emerging professionals.
