DESCRIPTION
Annex Theatre's first Late-Night run in our new venue!
Created by art-performance duo (and regular “Spin The Bottle” contributors) Paul Gude and Ben Laurance, with assistance from pint-sized performance artist Becky Poole, and directed by Annex Artistic Director Bret Fetzer, “Naked Ladies” chronicles the bumbling misadventures of two hack vaudevillians (Gude and Laurance) wandering aimlessly across a desolate landscape when they come across a briefcase labelled "NAKED LADIES" – but as the world they live in has never known such a thing, they have no idea what's inside. But they suspect it may be the answer to all their problems! If only they can keep the briefcase away from a cunning Coyote (Poole), their lives could be turned upside down by NAKED LADIES...
Evoking the mad-cap screwball screen comedies of such classic team-ups as Hope & Crosby and Abbott & Costello, “Naked Ladies” draws on the chaotic plots, rapier-like banter, and fourth-wall breaking surrealism of these earlier cinematic gems, while at the same time injecting copious amounts of Gude-Laurance’s own signature brand of contemporary, off-beat humor.
As an added bonus, each performance of "Naked Ladies" will be preceded by a mini-performance from Becky Poole's 6-year-old alter ego, Kitty Poole!
